In Mumbai, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended four individuals, which includes an assistant director from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The assistant director is accused of soliciting a bribe of Rs.1,20,000 to settle outstanding bills for the company.
The CBI has executed a search operation and confiscated a sum of 37 lakhs in cash. The arrested individuals are Assistant Director (Technical) Amol Jagtap, Private Company Director Vikas Bhardwaj, Senior Manager Harshal Chaugule, and Company Representative Gurunath Dubule. These individuals are suspected of receiving bribes in exchange for bill clearances.
The CBI arrested the four individuals after setting up a trap for accepting a bribe of Rs.120,000 via the private company's representatives. A search was conducted at the accused individuals' offices and residences, resulting in the seizure of Rs.37,30,000 in cash, 45 grams of gold, documents related to various properties, and other incriminating evidence. The arrested individuals were presented before the court and remanded in police custody until May 8.
