The Ganesh festival is celebrated with much fervour in Maharashtra. Ganpati Bappa has been installed in households and public congregations on September 7. In some places, Lord Ganesha used to come for five days, six days and seven days. In most of the public congregations, Bappa is worshipped for 10 days i.e. from Ganesh Chaturthi to Anant Chaturdashi. However, due to tension during the immersion procession, the idol of Ganpati Bappa was seized by the police. "What is Ganpati Bappa doing in a police van?" the BJP leader asked.

The mouthpiece of Panchjanya (Ganesha Idol) has made serious allegations. On the other hand, Tejasvi Surya said that he was sad to see the statue in the police van. In Karnataka, the police arrested Hindu activists. Hindus protesting against stone pelting during Ganesh Visarjan were arrested. They were demanding an NIA probe into the incident. Later, the Hindu activists were arrested and the idol of Lord Ganesha was seized. BJP leader Tejasvi Surya questioned what Ganpati Bappa was doing in the police van. Tejasvi Surya has also posted a message saying that this picture looks very bad and is unfortunate.

Many have said that this is the first time such an incident has happened in the history of the country and the BJP has blamed the Congress government for this.

What exactly happened here?
The incident took place in Karnataka's Mandya district. A clash broke out between two groups during Ganesh immersion procession at Nagamangala in Mandya district on Wednesday night. This was followed by stone-pelting, arson and firing between the two groups. Following this, police were deployed in large numbers at the venue. The incident came to light after that, police said.
Several people were injured in stone-pelting and firing. Police had to fire tear gas shells to control the mob. Meanwhile, the locals have demanded immediate arrest of the accused. Police has started investigation of the incident.
