Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructed officials on Sunday to strictly implement the regional dominance and zero terrorism policy in Jammu, as adopted in Kashmir. During a meeting in New Delhi to assess security in Jammu and Kashmir, he reaffirmed the Modi government's commitment to eradicating terrorism.

Recent days have seen a rise in militant activities in the region, such as an incident where a bus carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims fell into a valley following gunfire in the normally peaceful Reasi district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also convened a meeting with officials three days ago, instructing the implementation of comprehensive measures to combat terrorism. The security review led by Shah on Sunday primarily focused on the safety of Jammu division.

He emphasized that to eliminate terrorism across the state, strategies must be executed in both Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, security for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, commencing on the 29th, was discussed.

The meeting was attended by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, incoming Army Chief Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, as well as senior government and intelligence officials.
