The Democracy News : Union Home Minister Amit Shah will conduct a security review in Jammu and Kashmir today following recent terror attacks. He is anticipated to provide general directives to enhance anti-terrorism efforts and assess the arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra commencing on June 29. This review comes three days after a meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Prime Minister instructed officials to utilize all available counter-terrorism resources following multiple terrorist incidents, including an assault on a pilgrim bus. Notable attendees at the upcoming meeting include National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Army Chief-designate Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, CRPF Director General Aneesh Dayal Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Police Director General RR Swain, and other senior security officials.
Sources indicate that officials will brief the Home Minister on various security matters, including the current security status in Jammu and Kashmir, force deployment along the International Border and Line of Control, infiltration attempts, progress of ongoing anti-terrorism operations, and the presence of active terrorists in the Union Territory.
It is expected that Amit Shah will issue comprehensive directives to security agencies for immediate action in line with the Prime Minister's instructions. In a span of four days, terrorists have carried out attacks in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of nine pilgrims and a CRPF personnel, as well as injuries to several others, including seven security personnel.
