The Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau apprehended Kesara Kesava Reddy, also known as Maha, a Bengaluru resident, for managing money mule bank accounts. Upon his arrest, authorities confiscated seven mobile phones, two laptops, seven SIM cards, 22 SIM card vouchers, 10 bank passbooks and cheque books, as well as 19 debit cards from his possession.
Kesava Reddy (33yrs) was taken into custody as part of the investigation under Cr No 05/2024 of CCPS (Hqrs) related to the mule accounts case. Deputy SP of TSCSB, Surya Prakash, mentioned that Kesava Reddy was involved in online cricket betting since February 2023. He collaborated with individuals on social media platforms for gaming and IPL betting activities.
Motivated by quick profits, he partnered with them to obtain mule bank accounts for online gaming and betting transactions. To accomplish this, he liaised with Pranay Shinde and his associates to establish mule bank accounts, where he received a 30 percent commission on the transactions. Previously, TSCSB had arrested Shindhe Pranay, Vanikar Naveen, and Arugula Laxman in May 2024.
Pranay and his associates played a crucial role in setting up 125 mule bank accounts for commissions. They persuaded residents of Bhainsa and nearby areas to open 125 bank accounts in different banks. These individuals collected net banking credentials, ATM cards, and chequebooks from the account holders, compensating them Rs 5,000 per account.
Afterwards, they shared the account information with Kesava Reddy, who received funds from online gamers and bettors into these accounts, facilitating large-scale transactions. The Bureau disclosed that the investigation is ongoing to uncover additional national and international connections in the case.
