A woman died and three others were injured when trees were uprooted due to heavy rain and strong winds at Kanoor-Kattimane village in Narasimharajapura taluk, Chikkamagaluru district. The deceased, identified as Savitha (48yrs) from Melinapete in Koppa taluk, owned a plantation at Kattinamane.
The incident occurred while she was walking along the road after visiting her plantation, resulting in her immediate death. Additionally, another tree fell on a passing car, injuring three passengers. The injured individuals were promptly taken to a government hospital in Balehonnur, and the car sustained significant damage.
Police from NR Pura responded to the scene following the report of the incident. The Malnad region in Chikkamagaluru district has been experiencing rainfall over the past four to five days, with areas like Kalasa, Mudigere, Koppa, and Balehonnur also receiving substantial rainfall.
