Whenever there are road accidents on hilly and plain routes, the transport department immediately wakes up and starts a checking campaign to challan vehicles.

This action of the department is nothing more than a show that lasts for a couple of days after the accident and then for months again there is no action like checking. On the second day of the accident in Pathalot, the Transport Department launched a campaign and challaned 205 vehicles in 12 hours. After the Pathalot accident, officials swung into action and five different teams were deployed on the mountain route to issue challans on Thursday. As soon as the officials started checking, the system of taxi drivers was activated and the matter of checking from one end to the other end in the roads was passed on to each other and most of the overloaded vehicles in the mountain route disappeared from the roads.

Even after this, the team of the Transport Department challaned 205 vehicles. A total of 13 vehicles were involved in the accident. Apart from this, six without fitness, five without permit, 13 without tax, six without DL were challaned. 26 vehicles of unauthorized carriers used for overloading in hilly areas were challaned. The fitness route of three vehicles has also been cancelled. In addition, action has been recommended against the permits of three vehicles.
