New Delhi: A controversy has erupted over the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Kedarnath temple in Delhi. Swami Avimukteshwaranand, the Shankaracharya of the Jyotirmath, has also opposed the construction of the Kedarnath temple in Delhi. He also alleged that there was a huge scam in the work of giving gold enamel to the custodian of the temple in Kedarnath. 228 kg gold has gone missing from Kedarnath temple. Shankaracharya alleged.

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand said, "Why was the issue of gold scam in Kedarnath not raised? After the scam there, now the Kedarnath temple will be built in Delhi, where there will be a scam again, he alleged.

Last year, a senior priest of the Kedarnath temple had alleged a scam of Rs 125 crore in the work of applying gold enamel in the Kedarnath temple. He was also accused of using brass instead of gold. The temple board, however, denied the allegation.

The Shankaracharya said that 228 kg of gold is missing in Kedarnath. No investigation was done. Who's responsible for this? Now they are saying that they will build a Kedarnath temple in Delhi. This won't happen.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the new Kedarnath temple in Hiranki area of North West Delhi.

However, devotees at the Kedarnath temple in Rudraprayag have objected to it. They also raised slogans against the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
Pankaj Shukla, spokesperson of Kedarnath Sabha, said, "We are not against the construction of the temple. We are against the construction of Kedarnath temple by a religious trust in Delhi. He claimed that even if a stone is shifted from the Kedarnath area, the sanctity of the Kedarnath temple will be reduced.
