Actor Siddique is relieved. On September 24, the Kerala High Court rejected Siddiqui's bail plea in the case. The high court had also said that considering the seriousness of the allegations made against Siddiqui, an investigation was required.

Actor Siddique had filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Kerala High Court's verdict convicting him of rape. The case was heard in the Supreme Court today. The court, however, granted protection to Siddiqui from arrest.

Ramya had accused actor Siddique of raping her. He later filed a complaint with the Thiruvananthapuram police. The actress made a huge splash in the Malayalam film industry.

What are the charges against Siddiqui?
Actor Siddique has been accused of rape. A case has been registered against the actor under sections 376 and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Siddique had earlier moved the Kerala High Court seeking bail in the case. However, the High Court rejected the plea.

What did the court say while dismissing his bail plea?
The Kerala High Court had on September 24 rejected Siddique's anticipatory bail plea in the rape case, saying the allegations against him were serious in nature. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, his custodial interrogation with proper interrogation is inevitable. The high court had also rejected the bail plea of Siddiquee citing fear of tampering with evidence as he had completely denied the allegations in his defence.

Today, the case was heard in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court then asked senior advocate Vrinda Grover, appearing for the victim, the reason for the delay in filing the complaint against the actor. The counsel then referred to the report of Justice Hema Committee to the bench.
