New Delhi Amid heavy rains across India, the water position of the country’s main budgets has risen for the first time since September last time, the Central Water Commission( CWC) said. Despite the borderline rise of 2 per cent from the former week, this marks a departure from the harmonious week- on- week decline reported since the bulletin issued on September 29, 2023, when the storehouse capacity stood at 73 per cent, according to the analysis of the data.
The CWC, which monitors the live storehouse status of 150 budgets across India, released its rearmost bulletin detailing these developments on July 4. The CWC issues a daily bulletin every Thursday, furnishing updates on the status of these budgets. According to the bulletin, out of the 150 budgets, 20 are devoted to hydroelectric systems, with a total live storehouse capacity of 35.30 billion boxy measures( BCM).
The CWC bulletin on July 4 said the live storehouse available in these budgets was39.729 BCM, which is 22 per cent of their total live storehouse capacity. In comparison, the live storehouse available during the matching period last time was50.422 BCM, with a normal storehouse position of44.06 BCM.
This indicates that the current live storehouse is 79 per cent of last time’s matching period and 90 per cent of the normal storehouse position, the CWC said. The northern region, comprising Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan, has 10 budgets with a total live storehouse capacity of 19.663 BCM.
The current storehouse is 5.39 BCM( 27 per cent), compared to 45 per cent during the same period last time and a normal storehouse position of 31 per cent. The region, including Assam, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Tripura, Nagaland, and Bihar, storehouse capacity of20.430 BCM. The current storehouse stands at 3.979 BCM(19 per cent), down from 20 per cent last time and a normal position of 23 per cent.
The western region, which includes Gujarat and Maharashtra, has 49 budgets with a total live storehouse capacity of37.130 BCM. The storehouse is now at7.949 BCM( 21 per cent), compared to 27 per cent last time and a normal storehouse position of 22 per cent.
The central region, comprising Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, has 26 budgets with a total live storehouse capacity of48.227 BCM. The current storehouse is12.26 BCM( 25 per cent), compared to 35 per cent last time and a normal storehouse position of 26 per cent.
The southern region, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, has 42 budgets with a total live storehouse capacity of53.334 BCM. The storehouse is now at10.152 BCM(19.03 per cent), down from 19.43 per cent last time and a normal position of 24 per cent. The bulletin stressed several crucial points — Normal storehouse is defined as the average storehouse of the last 10 times.
The overall storehouse position is lower than both the matching period last time and the normal storehouse during the same period. More- than-normal storehouse is observed in regions similar as Brahmaputra, Sabarmati, and the West Flowing Rivers from Tadri to Kanyakumari. near to normal storehouse is set up in the Indus, Subarnarekha, Mahi, and other gutters.
Deficient storehouse is reported in the Mahanadi, Cauvery, Brahmani and Baitarni gutters. largely deficient storehouse is seen in the East Flowing gutters between Pennar and Kanyakumari and other analogous regions. In terms of specific force data, 56 budgets have storehouse situations advanced than last time, and 61 have further than the normal storehouse position.
Again, 14 budgets have storehouse situations lower than or equal to 20 per cent compared to last time, and eight budgets are also low compared to the normal storehouse. likewise, 40 budgets have storehouse situations lower than or equal to 50 per cent of last time, with 29 budgets also low compared to the normal storehouse position.
States with better storehouse than last time include Assam, Jharkhand, Tripura, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, and Kerala. There are no countries with equal storehouse to last time. States with lower storehouse than last time include Rajasthan, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
According to the CWC’s analysis, the total live storehouse available in the country is estimated to be57.290 BCM against the total capacity of257.812 BCM. This enhancement comes amid wide downfall across the country.
