Pune: Crime against women is on the rise in the city. yesterday (p. 20) An incident of stalking and assaulting a digital content creator woman on Baner-Pashan road had come to light. The woman shared a video of the incident on social media. (Attack On Jerlyn Dsilva)
Jerrilyn DeSilva claimed in the video that the accused pulled her hair and punched her twice in the face and nose. This caused profuse bleeding from the nose. The unidentified driver had beaten her up and pulled her hair in front of the two children who were with her.
After the incident, the police registered an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused, Swapnil Kekare and his wife, have been arrested. Accused Swapnil's wife was also present in the car when the incident took place. A case has been registered at the Chaturshringi police station and further investigation is underway.
