Mumbai: After the end of Ganeshotsav, the Municipal Corporation has undertaken a cleanliness drive and a campaign has also been launched to remove billboards across Mumbai.
During Ganeshotsav, religious, political and commercial hoardings were broken. Advertisements of political parties, people's representatives and various commercial establishments advertising Ganeshotsav Mandals were put up in the Mandal premises. As there is a public Ganesh pandal in every lane of Mumbai, advertisements cover all the roads during Ganeshotsav. As a result, the city was destroyed. The mandals do not take out advertisement boards after Ganeshotsav. Therefore, the license department of the municipality has taken up a campaign to remove the advertisement board this year.
The license department of the BMC has removed more than 14 thousand advertisement boards, boards, posters, arches, flags from all over Mumbai in 24 hours after Anant Chaturdashi. A large number of political, social and religious leaders were present. The highest number of 7656 religious boards have been removed from Mumbai. As many as 807 political and 260 commercial hoardings have been removed. Most of the hoardings have been removed from Andheri, Jogeshwari West
