Virar man commits suicide due to police harassment (Suicide Case). The deceased has been identified as Abhay Palshetkar (28yrs). The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has ordered the state government to pay a compensation of Rs.10 lakh to Abhay's mother. On April 21, Abhay had said that he was threatened by the police by making a video before committing suicide.

Abhay lived with his wife Aarohi Palshetkar (25) in Manvelpada in Virar East. He got married a couple of years ago. There were family disputes. On April 21, his wife lodged a complaint against Abhay with the police. The police then summoned Abhay and served him a notice under Section 149.

After reaching home, he committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room. Before committing suicide, he made a video and sent it to his family members.

In the video, a policeman named Sunil Pawar had said that he was committing suicide because he was threatened to kill him by putting him in a tyre. However, the Virar police registered a case only against Abhay's wife. A departmental inquiry has been ordered by the police.

He reacted angrily. It was alleged that the police were being shielded conveniently. The state human rights commission took cognizance of the matter based on media reports. The commission has issued a notice to the police commissioner in this regard.

After the hearing, the court found the police guilty. Police brutality is a violation of human rights. In this case, the court ordered to pay compensation of Rs.10 lakh to Ujjwala Palshetkar, mother of Mayat Abhay, within six weeks. If the compensation is not paid within this period, it will have to be paid at an interest rate of 8 per cent, the order said. Saeed and K.K. The court has given this order.

Apart from this, the DGP of the state has also been ordered to conduct workshops every three months to guide the police on how to deal with the citizens. Last week, the commission had imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on key dealer Mehmood Ali Ahmed Ali Ansari, 35, who was allegedly beaten up by the Manikpur police.
