New Delhi: India and China have been engaged in a military confrontation along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh for the last several weeks. However, efforts are underway to reduce tensions between the two countries. India and China have agreed to de-escalate tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
"We will agree to reduce differences between China and India through dialogue and strengthen communication with each other," the Chinese defence ministry said in a statement. "We agree to continue our dialogue to find a solution that is acceptable to both countries," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said. This was informed by the Defence ministry of India.
Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang held a meeting with Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat. "India and China have been able to reach some consensus on easing tensions along the Line of Control in eastern Ladakh, reducing differences on outstanding issues between the two countries, and strengthening communication," he said. Zhang Xiaogang also made it clear that both sides are trying to find a solution as soon as possible.
"The military confrontation between the two countries in eastern Ladakh has been going on for more than four years. Talks are underway between the two countries to end the military standoff and withdraw troops from Demchok and Depsang. The dispute had strained relations between the two countries, "Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said.
