Three youths from Karnataka, who were sent to serve in the Russian Army, have returned to India. The three were sent to Russia by an Indian agent on the pretext of providing them jobs as security guards. After returning from Russia, they spoke to The Indian Express. Speaking on the occasion, he said. They have been identified as Syed Ilyas Hussaini, Mohammad Sameer Ahmed and Sukain Mohammad. The three have been brought back to India with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs.
According to the Indian Express, some agents from India had duped three youths from Karnataka by promising them jobs as security guards in Russia. He also promised to give Rs 70,000 per month to them. He was deported to Russia in December. However, when the three reached Russia, they realised that they had been cheated.
Syed Ilyas Hussaini, 24, said, We arrived in Moscow, Russia on December 19, 2023. At that time, an Indian named Moin Khan came to pick us up at the airport. He took us to his room. Two days later, some officers of the Russian army came there in plain clothes. They took us to another hotel. We were given new SIM cards and ATM cards. We were taken to an office. We have signed some documents. The documents were written in Russian. We tried to translate it through the app. But they didn't allow us. When I asked our agent, he told me to sign saying that he is Arti-Sharti. "
"After signing the papers, we were taken to a place 400 km away from Moscow. Our passports and mobile phones were seized and we were given Russian Army uniforms. Then we were put on a plane and taken to the border of Ukraine. We were given training for a month. I couldn't even contact my family. "
"After training, we were sent to the battlefield in February. We had to work 14 hours. We lived in the woods. We were given mobile phones. I called my dad and told him about it. He also called on the Russian Embassy in India. "
Syed Ilyas Hussaini said, "A person named Hemil Mangukiya from Gujarat was killed in a drone attack by Ukraine. We saw his death. After that, we never expected to go to India. When we refused to participate in the war, we were pressured. We lived in the forest. "
Speaking about the release from Russia, Syed Ilyas Hussaini said, "After Prime Minister Modi's visit to Russia, all three saw a ray of hope. After this visit, his commanding officer received a phone call, asking him to release all the Indians from the service and send them back to the headquarters. We were brought back to Moscow and then sent to Delhi. I still shudder at the thought of how we survived all this, "he said.
Significantly, apart from these three, six more Indians were brought back to the country last week. These include four from Telangana and one each fromKashmir and Kolkata.
