KALYAN: In a bid to draw the attention of the government towards their long-pending demands, the Motor Vehicles Department Employees Union, which has been spearheading the 66-year-old work of the Sub-Regional Transport Office (RTO), has decided to go on strike from Tuesday. 24) has decided to go on indefinite strike.
The notice to go on an indefinite strike was given to Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar by President of Motor Vehicle Employees Association Prakash Patil, General Secretary Surendra Sartape, Pavaba Kankhar and Deepak Gangurde. The transport commissioner immediately held a discussion with the representatives of the employees' union along with fellow officers on Thursday. In this discussion, as usual, the representatives of the employees' union were given empty promises by the officials on the pending demands of the employees for many years. The indefinite strike was called off. The officials were unable to fulfill the promises made in writing. Therefore, the Motor Vehicle Department Employees Union decided to go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday after realizing that the transport officials were harassing them as before.
Demands by workers
Along with the administrative work of the RTO office, the driver and owner of the vehicle have to do the work of customer service. This has created administrative problems. The employees are suffering due to the double workload. The policy of revenue departmental changes has not been cancelled. Unnecessary changes have been made in the departmental examinations. The scheme is not being implemented properly. Non-implementation of the provisions of the Cluster Committee in the interest of the employees, not considering the seniority of service in transfers and promotions. These are the demands of the workers. The Motor Vehicle Employees Union has appealed to the government from time to time regarding these demands. The employees were given only assurances. Therefore, the indefinite strike will not be withdrawn until the transport department gives a letter acknowledging the demands in writing, said President Prakash Patil.
Vehicle owner goes into depression
Due to the strike of the RTO employees, the vehicle owners are upset. With the cancellation of the examination for the post of apprentice vehicle trainee, all the work related to vehicles will be stalled due to the strike, the vehicle owners have flocked to the RTO office on Friday.
The demands of RTO employees have been pending for years. Due to the new administrative changes, employees are suffering while working.
