Prime Minister Narendra Modi with US President Joe Biden at the Quad meet. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest. They also discussed regional and global issues, including the Indo-Pacific region.
The Quad summit was held in Biden's hometown of Delaware. The two leaders held bilateral talks at Biden's home in Greenville. Earlier in the day, Biden warmly welcomed Modi. The discussions focused on further strengthening the India-US partnership in areas of mutual interest, the MEA said in a post on 'X'. External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri said the meeting between the two leaders was an emotional one as it was the last in the capacity of the head of state.
During the meeting, Biden conveyed his appreciation for Modi's historic visit to Poland and Ukraine. Other important issues like technology, space research, defence, trade, green energy also came up for discussion. While concerns were raised about China's growing military strength, defence trade also figured prominently during the talks between the two leaders.
During Modi's visit, the US has handed over 297 antiquities to India. Some of them are 2,000 years old. The antiquities were smuggled out of the country, an official statement said.
