Only 35 overs of play was possible on the first day of thesecond Tst first dayetween India and Bangladesh. Fast bowler Akash Deep (2/34) and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (1/22) gave India a solid start. Bangladesh were 107 for 3 at stumps on the first day.

Parts of the Greenx Park Stadium gr o und in Kanpur remained wet due to heavy rains the previous night. The toss on Friday was delayed by an hour. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first. India opted to go in with three seamers without making any changes.
