MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Students' Union (MUSU) on Monday moved the Supreme Court against the decision to hold cabinet elections for the registered graduates' group of Mumbai University. For this election to be held in a comprehensive manner, re-registration of voters is necessary and for this it is necessary to postpone the election. However, the Supreme Court refused to stay the election.
The election of the university's graduate group is being held after two years, which was postponed twice in a year due to objections to voter registration and voter list, political allegations and counter-allegations, court battles, and the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha election. The university administration had decided to postpone the re-election on the orders of the Maharashtra government. The Yuva Sena had moved the Bombay High Court against the decision. The high court had ordered the counting of votes on September 27 and polling on September 24. Registered voters will be able to vote from 9 am to 5 pm on Tuesday. The centre-wise and booth-wise electoral rolls have been published on the website www.eduapp.co.in.
