Rajanna Sircilla, Telangana – In a shocking revelation, the Rajanna Sircilla police have apprehended a notorious gang involved in the manufacturing and distribution of explosive firecrackers known as "losers," which were being sold to hunters, referred to locally as nimrods. The operation came to light following a tragic incident where a buffalo was killed in an explosion at Dharmaram village in the Konaraopet mandal, prompting a swift police investigation.
The police seized over 60 of these country-made firecrackers from the gang during the operation, which has raised concerns about the safety of such illegal activities in the region. Following the explosion that occurred two days ago, a case was initially registered against unknown persons, leading to an all-out investigation spearheaded by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Raghupathi Reddy.
As the investigation unfolded, the police kept close tabs on Pittala Rajalingam, a well-known criminal implicated in the illicit trade. On Sunday morning, authorities took him into custody, where he confessed to manufacturing these crude firecrackers and supplying them to local hunters. Based on Rajalingam's disclosures, police subsequently arrested three other individuals: Padigeli Laxmaiah, Thummala Kanakaraju, and Mogili Anjaiah.
Chandurty Circle Inspector Venkateshwarlu explained that Rajalingam crafted the firecrackers using readily available materials and sold them to Laxmaiah, Kanakaraju, and Anjaiah, who would then wrap the explosives in lamb intestines and offer them to unsuspecting consumers. The firecrackers, designed to explode upon consumption, posed a deadly risk, leading to potentially fatal outcomes for those who ingested them. In total, police recovered seven firecrackers, gunpowder, and cash amounting to Rs. 2,000 from Rajalingam, while 40 firecrackers were seized from Anjaiah and 10 each from Laxmaiah and Kanakaraju.
Authorities are emphasizing the dangers of such illicit activities and are committed to eradicating the manufacture and distribution of dangerous explosives within the community. The investigation continues as police delve deeper into the gang's operations and seek to prevent further tragedies.
