Kerala: Ten individuals apprehended in connection with a suspected case of mob lynching in Muvattupuzha, Kerala, where a visiting agent was reportedly fatally assaulted two days ago. The deceased, identified as Asok Das, a 24-year-old from Arunachal Pradesh, had been residing in a rented house in Valakam, neighboring Muvattupuzha, in search of employment. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Das was allegedly tied to a post and interrogated by a group of locals when he visited his female friend in the same area on Thursday night.

Subsequently, Das was transferred to a nearby general hospital and later referred to Kolencherry Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday while undergoing treatment, as stated in the FIR. Sources revealed that the deceased suffered severe abuse at the hands of the locals, leading to his demise. Ten individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident, and a case has been registered under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code (non-compliance with the order of a public servant). "Following a preliminary inquiry, additional sections were added to the case. Section 302 of the IPC (murder) has been invoked against the accused," stated an official to PTI. Police assure a thorough investigation will be conducted, with all suspects to be apprehended promptly.
