Thane: A five-year-old girl died after the plaster of the roof of a flat in a 30-year-old building in Mumbra's Jeevan Bagh area collapsed on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Uneja Sheikh and her parents and brother have been injured.

Banu Tower at Jeevan Bagh is a five-storey plus 30-year-old building. The building has a total of 20 flats and six shops. Uneja lived with her father Umar Sheikh (23), mother Muskan (21) and brother Ijaan (one year) in a flat on the ground floor of the building. At around 8 pm on Sunday, the plaster of the ceiling in the kitchen of his apartment suddenly collapsed. He was seriously injured. Her mother, father and younger brother suffered minor injuries.

But the doctors declared her dead. The building falls under the category of C-2B (carrying out structural repairs without vacating the building). The residents of the building have been instructed to repair the building.
