Bengaluru: The water crisis in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, is getting worse by the day. Now somewhere the summer has started and there is a problem of water shortage in the city of Bangalore. Stringent steps are being taken to reduce wastage of water due to unnecessary use in the city to overcome the problem of water scarcity. Washing of cars, bikes, scooters and other vehicles has been banned in the city. A lot of water is wasted in washing the car. Not only this, the system has banned the use of water for many other things. A fine will be imposed if the water is found to be contaminated.
With the onset of summer, water scarcity is looming large in many areas. In the capital of Karnataka, the situation has become so bad that instructions have been given that those who waste water will be fined.
The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has banned the use of water for washing vehicles, fountains and gardening in the wake of the water crisis in the city. A fine of Rs five thousand was imposed on him for flouting the rule. It has also appealed to the citizens to complain to the BWSSB call centre if they find anyone violating the order in the city. Therefore, people are advised not to waste water and use it judiciously, "the BWSSB said.
The order also prohibits the use of water for construction works, recreational fountains, drinking water and other uses in malls and cinema halls, cleaning of roads and other sanitation works. Dr Ram Vasant Manohar, president of BWSSB, said, "Violation of the order will attract a fine of Rs 5,000. Repeated violations will attract a fine of Rs 5,000 and an additional fine of Rs 500 for each day.
