New Delhi: IPS officer Shivdeep Lande has resigned from the post of Director General of Police (DGP). "Shivdeep Lande posted on his Facebook page. However, he has announced that he will remain in Bihar and serve the state. What happens after retirement? However, he did not elaborate on this. I served in Bihar for 18 years. Bihar is my home. If I have unknowingly done something wrong, the people of Bihar should forgive me. I'm leaving the police force today. But will continue to work for Bihar, "he tweeted.

Lande is currently serving as the Inspector General of Police in Bihar's Purnia district. Notably, Kamya Mishra, a 2019-batch IPS officer, had also resigned in August. Lande, like Mishra, had said he was resigning due to personal reasons. But according to sources, Lande was an uncompromising officer. That is why he was upset with the current working style of the Bihar Police administration. He was said to be upset after returning to Bihar after serving in Mumbai for five years.
Who is Shivdeep Lande?
Shivdeep Lande was born on 29 August 1976. Hailing from a farmer's family, Shivdeep Lande was educated in Akola district. He completed his B. Tech in Electronics from Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon. After this, he came to Mumbai to prepare for UPSC.
While preparing for UPSC in Mumbai, he was selected for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). However, he tried again and took the UPSC exam and was selected for the IPS in 2006. Lande got the Bihar cadre and his first posting was at Jamalpur in the Naxal-affected Munger district. After this, Lande worked in various positions in Patna, Araria, Purnia, Rohtas and many other districts.
Vijay Shivtare
Shivdeep Lande is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Bihar cadre. Lande was married to Mamta Shivtare, daughter of Shiv Sena leader Vijay Shivtare, since 2014. After marriage, she had expressed her desire to work in the Maharashtra force. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present on the occasion. Lande was then deputed to the Maharashtra Police for three years. While in Maharashtra, Lande served in the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Anti-Terrorist Squad.
In 2022, Shivdeep Lande returned to Bihar. On September 6, 2024, he was transferred to the post of Inspector General of Police of Purnia district. He was said to be upset after that.
