Authorities are conducting DNA tests on the bodies of over 40 deceased Indians from a tragic fire in a building in Kuwait's Mangaf area. An Indian Air Force plane is prepared to transport the bodies. Officials provided this update on Thursday.

Out of the 49 casualties from the Al-Mangaf building fire, 42 are believed to be Indian nationals. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh arrived in Kuwait under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directive to oversee aid for injured Indians and facilitate the repatriation of the deceased.

He met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, who pledged comprehensive support, including medical services, swift repatriation, and a thorough investigation. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait conveyed on social media, "Foreign Minister Yahya expressed condolences for this tragic incident. The Minister of State acknowledged the cooperation extended by Kuwaiti authorities concerned."

Singh also visited Mubarak Al Kabir Hospital where seven injured Indians are receiving treatment. A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs was issued on Wednesday night. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the event as 'tragic.' During a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P.K. Mishra, Modi announced financial assistance of Rs.2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to the families of the deceased Indians.

He instructed the government to provide all necessary aid. The Foreign Minister spoke with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Al-Yahya, urging the swift repatriation of the deceased Indians. Kuwaiti authorities reported the progress in this matter. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar assured that a through investigation would be conducted and accountability established.
