Preethi Pal Wins First Bronze in Women's T 35.100 m Event at Paris Paralympic Games 2024

This is India's third medal at the ongoing Paris Paralympics. Preeti Pal has won a bronze medal for India in athletics. Along with winning the medal, Preeti has also created history. She won the bronze medal in the women's 100m T35 event with a time of 14.21 sec. India has so far won three medals in wrestling at the Games. Earlier, Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal had won medals in shooting.


Preeti finished third in the women's 100m (T35) event with a personal best time of 14.21 sec. China's Zhou Jia won the gold medal while Guo Qianqian of the same country won the silver medal. He clocked 13.58 secs. This is India's first medal in para-athletics at the Paralympics. The T35 category at the Paralympic Games is for para athletes who have hypertonia, ataxia and atherosclerosis and cerebral palsy, etc. There are coordination disorders.


Preity's personal best
Preeti Pal finished the race with a personal best time of 14.21 sec. He beat China's Jia Zhou and Qianqian Guo. China won both the gold and silver medals. The 23-year-old is participating in the Paralympics for the first time. She won a bronze medal in the women's 200m T35 at the World Para Athletics Championships in May this year. She will also compete in the 200m at the Paris Paralympics.


Preeti Pal has been doing amazing work since the beginning of this year. She started the year well by winning 2 gold medals at the 6th Indian Open Para Athletics Championships held in Bengaluru in March 2024. In May, she won a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championships in Japan, finishing third. With this medal, she managed to get a ticket to the Paris Paralympics and now she has set a new record by winning a bronze medal.
