Police stated that JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna was accused of sodomising a party worker recently and was charged on Saturday. Chethan K S (27yrs) reported to the authorities that Suraj Revanna, the oldest offspring of Holenarasipura MLA H.D. Revanna, sexually assaulted him at his rural retreat in Ghannikada in Holenarasipura Taluk on the evening of June 16.
The Holenarasipura police filed a case against the JD(S) MLC on Saturday night for unnatural sex (IPC section 377) and criminal intimidation (IPC section 506) as per the complaint. Suraj Revanna (37yrs), the grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and the nephew of Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, has flatly denied the accusation. However, he claims that Chethan submitted a fraudulent complaint in order to demand Rs.5 crore from him.
Suraj Revanna has not been arrested by the police yet. On Friday, Chethan was accused of extortion by Suraj Revanna's associate Shivakumar, leading to a police case being filed. Shivakumar has accused Chethan of attempting to blackmail Suraj Revanna by using the threat of filing a false sexual assault case against him. Chethan was said to have requested Rs 5 crore from Suraj Revanna, but the amount was later lowered to Rs 2 crore.
Suraj, the older brother of Prajwal Revanna, a former Member of Parliament from Hassan, is currently in police custody for reportedly sexually assaulting multiple women. Prajwal, who was defeated in the election for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, was taken into custody on May 31 upon his return from Germany, where he had been hiding following the filing of rape and intimidation charges against him.
Their father H D Revanna and mother Bhavani are currently free on bail. They have been charged with abducting and imprisoning a purported victim of their son Prajwal’s sexual attacks.
