Beautification efforts at Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre Samadhi Sthal complex in Alibaug have halted for the past two months reportedly due to the Archaeological Department's intervention. Plans to inaugurate the work with State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, MLA Mahendra Dalvi, former Municipal President Prashant Naik, and Raghujiraje Angre were put on hold, as the Archaeology Department intervened to stop the work.

Funds of Rs.2 crores were allocated for the initial beautification project, but due to the substantial financial requirements, an additional Rs.3 crores were sanctioned, totaling Rs.5 crores for the project. The first phase will focus on replicating the grand entrance gate, carving the guardian wall, creating fort replicas, FRP lamps, Kanhoji Raje Angre murals, and garden lighting enhancements.

Despite obtaining necessary tender processes and technical approvals, the work was temporarily paused due to the Archaeological Department's concerns, specifically regarding Beautification work. These doubts are currently under review, and the project is expected to resume shortly.
