A significant disaster was prevented in Uttarakhand thanks to the quick thinking of a helicopter pilot in Kedarnath Dham. The helicopter, carrying passengers, was forced to make an emergency landing in Kedarnath Dham due to a damaged rudder. Fortunately, the pilot skillfully managed to land the helicopter safely, bringing relief to the passengers.
Helicopter operations in Kedarnath have been historically risky, with 10 accidents occurring in the past 11 years. The District Disaster Management Officer, Nandan Singh Rajwar, reported that a helicopter belonging to Cretan Aviation Company was en route to Kedarnath with six passengers when a technical issue led to an emergency landing just 100 meters before the helipad. The pilot, Kalpesh, expertly executed the landing, ensuring the safety of all passengers, who were later assisted and escorted to the temple by police, administration officials, and employees.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will investigate the incident involving Crystal Company's helicopter in Kedarnath Dham. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey stated that the pilot demonstrated great skill in making a safe landing due to technical problems with the helicopter's tail rotor. The passengers, hailing from Tamil Nadu, were unharmed during the incident.
