Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the swearing-in ceremony. President Droupadi Murmu hosted a dinner for all the foreign leaders. The Rashtrapati Bhavan issued a statement during the dinner. The leaders attending the banquet include Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Seychelles Vice President Ahmed Afeef, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and (his wife) Kobita Jugnauth, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.

PM Modi adopts free hand style. The BJP has emerged as the single largest party with 240 seats in the Lok Sabha. It could not get close to a clear majority on its own, but the BJP-led 'NDA' has got a clear majority with 292 seats. The JD (U) has 12 MPs and the TDP 16. The first eight places in the swearing-in of cabinet ministers were booked for the BJP. Narendra Modi was the first one to take oath.
