Police in Nagpur arrested four individuals after discovering counterfeit currency notes totaling Rs.25 lakh. The Sitabuldi police apprehended the suspects based on a complaint from Rahul Vasudev Thakur. Thakur reported encountering an advertisement on Facebook on Monday night promoting a get-rich-quick scheme. The ad led him to a mobile number. Upon contacting the number, Thakur was offered Rs.8 lakh in exchange for Rs.2 lakh as part of the scheme.
The individual on the phone claimed to possess currency note printing machines. Thakur, sensing foul play, informed the authorities, who set up a sting operation leading to the arrest of Satish Dhnyandev Gaikwad (29yrs), Gautam Raju Bhalavi (21yrs), Shubham Sahdev Pradhan (27yrs), and Monu, also known as Shabbir Balakat Sheikh (27yrs).
The suspects were found in possession of counterfeit notes worth Rs.25 lakh, arranged in 44 bundles, each containing genuine notes on the exterior. These individuals had defrauded numerous victims using the same fraudulent tactic.
