In men's singles, 12th seed Taylor Fritz and 20th seed Frances Tiafoe advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open. Arina Sabalenka and Emma Navarro will face each other in the women's singles semi-finals.

Fritz defeated 2020 US Open runner-up Alexander Zverev of Germany 7-6 (7-2) 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in the quarterfinals. A good performance was expected from the fourth-seeded Zverev. In the other quarterfinal match, Tiafoe reached the semifinals of the tournament for the second time in three years. Grigor Dimitrov pulled out of the match in the fourth set of the quarterfinal match, giving Tiafoe the lead. When Dimitrov withdrew, Tiafoe was leading 6-3, 6-7 (5-7) 6-3, 4-1.

In the women's draw, 13th-seeded American Navarro defeated Spain's Paula Badosa 6-2, 7-5. Navarro has reached the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. She defeated Coco Gauff in the final. Navarro won the first set. She was then challenged by Badosa in the second set. However, she managed to win. In the other quarter-final, Sabalenka stunned seventh seed Qinwen Zheng of China 6-1, 6-2. Winner of the Australian Open, Sabalenka will be looking to win her second Grand Slam title of the year and third overall.
