A PIL has been filed in the Kerala High Court asserting that Parliament lacks the authority to name legislations in any language other than English. The petition, submitted by a lawyer, requests the court to instruct the central government to assign English titles to the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.

These legislations have replaced the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Indian Penal Code, and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively. Additionally, the plea seeks a court declaration that providing Hindi and Sanskrit titles for these laws goes against the Constitution's framework.
