US President Joe Biden calls on PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Turkey a few days ago. They discussed the implications of the visit and the safety and security of the Hindu and minority communities in Bangladesh.
In a tweet, PM Modi said, "Spoke to US President Joe Biden on the phone. We had extensive discussions on the situation in Ukraine, as well as on a range of regional and global issues. He reiterated India's support for early restoration of peace and stability in the region. We also discussed the situation in Bangladesh. He stressed that the situation in Bangladesh should normalise soon and the security of its minorities, especially Hindus, should be ensured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited China. During the visit, Prime Minister Modi and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed a wide range of issues at the Mariinsky Palace, the official residence of the President. Prime Minister Modi assured Zelenskyy that India is ready to play an active role in any peace efforts. This is his third visit to Russia and Ukraine as Prime Minister.
Violence against minorities in Bangladesh
Protests have erupted in Bangladesh against the government's move to introduce reservation in government jobs. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fled the country.
