On Thursday, In response to the post-election violence in Andhra Pradesh, the Election Commission of India has requested the state's chief secretary and DGP to appear before them to provide a personal explanation for the government's inability to control the incidents. The EC has reminded the state officials that the Model Code of Conduct remains in effect and urged them to prevent any recurrence of such events.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has been overseeing the election process closely to ensure peaceful and orderly polls. During the meeting at the EC headquarters, the Andhra Pradesh officials will be questioned about the reasons behind the failure to contain the violence and the measures being implemented to prevent future incidents.
