In the area of Dahanukar Colony Kothrud, a 22-year-old youth was brutally murdered as a result of a month-old fight. The victim, identified as Srinu Shankar Visalawat, was surrounded and fatally stabbed by a group of six people on Thursday (16th) at midnight. Following the incident, the accused individuals fled the scene. The Anti Extortion Cell Pune of the Crime Branch has since apprehended five of the absconding suspects.
A minor filed a complaint regarding the murder, leading to the registration of a case at Alankar police station. The arrested individuals include Praveen Dutta Kadam, Gaurav Shankar Mane, Ajay aka Sachin Appa Jadhav, Rohan Kalyan Adagale, and Atharva Laxman Shelke. Police Naik Rajendra Landge received information leading to the detention of the accused in Dalvinagar and Ambegaon Budruk.
Following interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, resulting in their arrest within 12 hours of the incident. The suspects have undergone medical examination and have been handed over for further investigation at the Alankar Police Station.
This operation was carried out by a team led by Additional Commissioner of Police Crime Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Amol Zende, with the guidance of Assistant Police Commissioner Crime Sunil Tambe, Senior Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Shinde, and other law enforcement officials.
