The perpetrators killed and robbed Mohini Dubey, the wife of retired IAS officer Devendra Dubey (58yrs), and disposed of her mobile phone and the screwdriver used in the crime into the Gomti River. Despite a search by the police with divers on Wednesday, no items were recovered. Devendra Dubey, who lives in Indiranagar Sector 20, went to play golf with his driver Ravi on the morning of May 25.

In his absence, the criminals entered the house, murdered Mohini, and stole jewelry worth one crore. The police disclosed the incident on Tuesday and apprehended Devendra's driver brothers Akhilesh Yadav and Ravi Yadav, along with their accomplice Ranjeet, who were subsequently jailed. The suspects admitted to fleeing to Ahimamau Chauraha via G-20 Marg after the crime and later heading to Ghosiana in Cantt.

The screwdriver used in the attack on Mohini was thrown into the river from a bridge near Ekana Stadium, along with her mobile phone. ACP Ghazipur Vikas Jaiswal stated that efforts are ongoing to retrieve the screwdriver and mobile device.
