Hyderabad: During his second day in Delhi, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Union health minister JP Nadda and requested the release of Rs 693.13 crore in funds owed under the National Health Mission (NHM).
Revanth elaborated on the state's efforts to enhance health infrastructure and facilities, stating that the State government had already provided the Centre's share to ensure healthcare remained unaffected post the new government in Telangana, urging Nadda to promptly release the Centre's matching grant.
Revanth allegedly communicated to Nadda about outstanding dues totaling Rs.323.73 crore for the third and fourth quarters of 2023-24 under the NHM scheme, and Rs.138 crore dues for the first quarter of the ongoing 2024-25 fiscal year.
Revanth had discussions with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday regarding issues such as the transfer of defence land in Hyderabad to the State government for infrastructure development like roads and flyovers. He had asked Rajnath Singh to transfer 2,450 acres of land to the state government.
He has also asked Manohar Lal Khattar to approve 2.70 lakh houses for the State under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), along with a Rs.784.88 crore grant for building PMAY houses in urban areas.
It has been reported that the chief minister told Khattar that numerous projects in Karimnagar and Warangal, part of the ‘Smart Cities Mission’, were not finished. Therefore, he asked for an extension of the project deadline to finish them.
Revanth Reddy was present at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Congress MPs from Telangana in Parliament on Tuesday. He went with the MPs to the Parliament, alongside UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
