The Democracy News |Hyderabad: A retired man, aged 52, was deceived by a fraudulent bank officer scam. The person who has four credit cards, one of which is from HDFC Bank, was contacted by a scammer pretending to be a bank employee from a toll-free number. The person on the phone said they were from the victim's bank and asked for One Time Passwords (OTPs) to confirm specific transactions.

Thinking the request was genuine, the victim shared the OTPs three times. As a result, three transactions worth Rs.1,39,895 occurred. After discovering the fraudulent transactions, the victim promptly reached out to his bank and informed them about the unauthorized activities.

The bank has guaranteed him that they will carefully look into the issue. The victim has asked for the appropriate measures to be taken to deal with the situation and avoid similar incidents from occurring again.
