A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established in Mumbai to probe the collapse of an advertisement board in Ghatkopar. Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Crime Branch, Lakhmi Gautam, has issued the necessary orders. Police have seized documents from Bhavesh Bhinde's office, and the investigation is in progress. The incident in Ghatkopar resulted in the tragic deaths of 16 individuals.
The SIT comprises a total of 6 officers. Inspector Mahesh Tawde from Crime Branch Room-7, supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Thakur, will lead the team. Police Inspector Atmaji Sawant is assigned as the case's investigating officer. The financial aspects of Bhinde's business are under scrutiny, considering the estimated cost of managing the Ghatkopar billboard is around Rs 4 to 5 crores. Questions regarding permissions and issued certificates are being addressed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The statements of two to three employees from Bhinde's Mulund office have been recorded, with plans to gather statements from others. Further details about transactions involving Bhinde's bank account with 'Ego Private Limited' are being sought. The SIT is coordinating with banks, and the team visited VJTI (Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute) on Tuesday.
