Navi Mumbai: The weather in Vashi Sector 26 is still cloudy. Therefore, the local residents are alleging that the chemical factories in MIDC have started polluting the air again.

The city has a large industrial area. Vashi, Ghansoli and Koparkhairane blocks are located adjacent to the industrial belt. As a result, industrial areas are more exposed to air pollution. A large amount of dust was found in the area of Kopri village, Vashi Sector 26, in the early hours of Wednesday. However, it was not dust but chemical-laden gases that caused the foul smell in the area. The pollution board had increased patrolling in the area after repeated complaints from the residents. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) had started spraying water through a dust-mitigation machine to control the dust in the air.
As soon as the rain started, the factories that pollute the air had a bit of a boom. But now the rains have opened up and people are complaining of air pollution from chemical factories in MIDC once again.
We have repeatedly complained to the Chief Minister, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation about the air pollution in Kopri village, Vashi Sector 26 area. However, the air pollution in the city is still on the rise. - Sanket Dhoke, Deputy District Chief, Shiv Sena (Ubatha) Navi Mumbai.
