Mumbai: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MVA) has called for a state-wide bandh to protest against the brutal rape of a school girl in Badlapur. However, after the High Court's order, the strike was called off. However, MVA leaders have decided to hold a silent protest across the state. In view of this, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) staged a protest near Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar. There were widespread protests against the government in the state. There was heavy rain during the protest. Many activists shouted slogans during the protest.

Former chief minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, state Congress president Nana Patole, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, former chief ministers Ashok Chavan and Chhagan Bhujbal were among those who attended the meeting. Unmindful of the heavy rain and strong winds, the workers left the premises of Shiv Sena Bhavan.
