DRDO Chairman Service Extension: After getting the approval by the Government of India (GOI), Dr. Sameer V. Kamat will continue to hold the post of Chairman of Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) till May 31 next year.

DRDO Chairman Service Extension: Dr. Sameer V. Kamat, Chairman of Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO), has received a one-year service extension approved by the Government of India on Monday. Dr. Kamat will continue in his position as DRDO Chairman until May 31 of the following year. In addition to his role as DRDO chief, he also holds the position of Secretary of the Department of Defense Research and Development. A government order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Monday confirmed the acceptance of the Defense Ministry's proposal. The extension of Dr. Sameer V. Kamat's service as Secretary of the Department of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) and Chairman of DRDO has been granted for one year, effective from June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025, or until further notice. General Manoj Pande also received a service extension. On May 26, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet granted a one-month extension to Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Manoj C. Pandey, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC. General Manoj Pandey, who was scheduled to retire on May 31, 2024, was given an extension until June 30, 2024, under Rule 16A (4) of the Army Rules, 1954. General Pandey assumed the role of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on April 30, 2022. He joined the Corps of Engineers (Bombay Sappers) in December 1982 and previously served as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff before becoming COAS.
