On May 18, a tourist couple in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag was attacked by terrorists who opened fire, resulting in serious injuries. The male tourist from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and identified as Tabrej, was then hospitalized. His wife, Farah, was also injured in the attack. The couple had been visiting Jammu and Kashmir and were staying at a resort when the terrorist incident occurred.
Farah recounted the harrowing experience where they were shot at while returning to the hotel. Despite being shot while trying to protect their son, Farah expressed gratitude for surviving the attack. However, Tabrej suffered eye injuries, leaving him with impaired vision. Farah appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assistance in restoring her husband's eyesight. Recently, there have been multiple terrorist firing incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, including the attack on the tourist couple from Jaipur on May 18.
Additionally, former Sarpanch Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh was targeted by terrorists in the Hurpora area of Pian district on the same day. These events have heightened tensions, particularly amid the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, terrorists targeted Indian Air Force vehicles in the Poonch district, resulting in injuries. The recurring attacks in Jammu and Kashmir have contributed to a tense atmosphere in the region, leading to increased hardships for the residents.
