Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday for his party's third consecutive victory in the parliamentary elections. Zelensky expressed anticipation for India's involvement in the upcoming peace summit regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict in Switzerland next week. He also praised the successful conduct of the world's largest democratic elections in India.

Zelensky extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP, and the BJP-led NDA for their electoral success, wishing the people of India peace and prosperity. He emphasized the common values and rich history shared between India and Ukraine, expressing hopes for continued partnership to faster progress and mutual benefits for both nations. Recognizing India's significant global role, Zelensky stressed the importance of collaborative efforts towards achieving just peace internationally.

He also welcomed India's potential participation in the Peace Summit, which aims to address the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The summit, scheduled to take place at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland on June 15-16, has invited over 160 countries to participate. Swiss State Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alexandre Fasel recently met with Indian officials, inviting Prime Minister Modi to join the summit aimed at establishing a sustainable peace plan for Ukraine.

Fasel highlighted India's close ties with both Russia and Ukraine, expressing optimism about India's potential contribution to the peace process. Regarding India's attendance at the summit, External Affairs Ministry spokes person Randhir Jhanwar stated that India had received the invitation from the Swiss side and was yet to confirm participation.

India has consistently advocated for resolving the Ukraine conflict through diplomatic dialogues. During a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in September 2022, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of global peace and urged humane intervention to end the conflict in Ukraine. Modi's message garnered appreciation from various international leaders.
