The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, announced plans to engage in discussions with the Maitei and Kuki communities in Manipur to address the ethnic tensions between them. Following a meeting on security concerns in Manipur, Shah expressed his commitment to bridging the gap between the two communities, who have been embroiled in violent conflicts for over a year.

Governor Anusuya Uike briefed Shah on the state's situation, after which he conferred with Manipur Government Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh, Director General of Police Rajeev Singh, and State Chief Secretary Vinit Joshi. Shah affirmed the Modi government's dedication to establishing lasting peace in Manipur and suggested deploying central teams strategically if necessary.

Notably, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh of Manipur was notably absent from the meeting, which was attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, IB Director Tapan Deka, Army Chief Jan. Manoj Pandey, and other senior officials, including Upendra Dwivedi.
