Kannur : The Vanitha League has once again made headlines for the wrong reasons. The parent organization, Muslim League, has prohibited the Vanitha League from taking part in the celebration of Shafi Parambil's victory in the Lok Sabha elections for the Vadakara constituency. Shahul Hameed, the League's general secretary for the Koothuparambe area, sent a voice message via a social media platform to the female party workers instructing them not to join the celebrations.

As a result, no Vanitha League members attended the event. The district president of the Muslim League, Abdul Kareem Cheleri, supported Shahul Hameed's message, stating that the party's position aligns with his directive. Women were barred from participating in the victory procession and roadshow in Panoor as part of the celebrations. In the 1.3-minute voice message, it was emphasized that women should maintain discipline and that religious beliefs do not endorse exuberant activities like roadshows.

Instead, they were advised to simply congratulate the winner. During the election day, female League workers were observed dancing at the victory celebrations. Abdul Kaleem also expressed the view that women should exhibit discipline when engaging in social events and festivities. The party's standpoint is that men and women should not excessively mix during such occasions. He noted that the party's State president had earlier advised to moderate such celebrations.

He added that certain actions are restricted for women according to Islamic beliefs and there is nothing contentious about reminding women of this fact. C Seenath, the district president of the Vanitha League, expressed approval of the party leaders' directive. She emphasized that uncontrolled dancing during victory processions is inappropriate and reiterated that religious beliefs dictate certain restrictions on women.
