According to the police, the complainant is a businessman and was known to Nigar Shaikh as she used to come to his shop for shopping. He works as a real estate agent. He said that a bank had put the flat on auction. When the complainant liked the flat, he offered to buy it. He said he was paid Rs 50 lakh. Initially, he took Rs 5 lakh to prepare the documents. He used to receive payments through cheques and cash. After taking Rs 15 lakh in cash, he showed the receipt of only Rs 10 lakh 42 thousand. After she returned the remaining money, the complainant gave a cheque of Rs 24 lakh 2 thousand.
Even after giving Rs 50 lakh, he refused to buy the flat.
A few months later, she said, the flat owner paid off the loan and the bank said it would not auction the property.
When they demanded the money back, she returned only Rs 24 lakh 2 thousand.
The complainant did not return the remaining amount of Rs 25 lakh 98 thousand despite repeated demands. They threatened to kill him if he asked for money. He lodged a complaint with the Wanavdi police. He had lodged a complaint with the police but no action was taken. They eventually went to court. Based on the court's order, the police registered a case and an investigation was taken up.
