In Vallikunnam, Alappuzha, a wild boar attack injured five people, including workers under employment guarantee schemes. Three seriously injured individuals were admitted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, with one undergoing emergency surgery. The incident took place in the eleventh ward of Vallikunnam Panchayat, involving Ashokan (58), Karunakaran (85), Udayan (59), Sunitha (43), and Vasudevan (55) - all employment guarantee workers from different areas.

The attack, which caused panic in the area, occurred around 8 am on Friday when a wild boar from the Chendankara area attacked the laborers. The boar targeted Sunitha first, then Vasudevan, who fell while trying to escape. Subsequently, Ashokan and Karunakaran were injured as well. Locals promptly transported Ashokan and Karunakaran to Vallikunnam Government Hospital.

Later, Udayan, who had come to add fertilizer, was also injured in the attack and taken to the hospital. Despite efforts by forest department officials and wildlife experts, the wild boar remained elusive after several hours of search.
