JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy could be one of the Karnataka MPs under consideration for a position in the union cabinet. On Wednesday, Kumaraswamy, the Mandya MP-elect, expressed interest in becoming the country's agriculture minister, aligning with his party's pro-farmer stance. He stated, "I am keen on the agriculture portfolio, but the final decisions will be made by BJP leaders at the national level in the state's best interests.
"Additionally, other senior leaders like Jagadish Shettar and Baravataj Bommai, who have demonstrated strong performance and secured re-elections, are also contenders. The party must also take into account former Union ministers Pralhad Joshi, Shobha Karandiaje, and MP BY Raghavendra, who have all been re-elected.
State BJP leaders suggest that only three MPs, including Kumaraswamy, may be included in the Union cabinet. There are deliberations on selecting one among Raghavendra, Shettar, and Bommai to represent the Lingayat community. Amid these considerations, Dr. C N Manjunath and former Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol also stand a chance to become state ministers.
